Recently, the YES program debuted "Global Citizen's Journey" at a YESTalks event in Tunis modeled after the popular TED Talks format. Twelve alumni of the YES program shared their journal from YES students to active alumni.

YES Students Visit the Capitol to Celebrate End of Year

Each year, the YES program holds End-of-Stay events in Washington, DC to prepare students to return to their home countries. This year, the YES program celebrated its 11th year of programming with events that included Senator Lugar, who helped start the Kennedy-Lugar YES program, and Kal Penn, the popular actor and civil servant who has worked closely with President Obama.

We are pleased to share the winning essay for our 2015 "My American Experience" Essay Contest! For this contest, we asked our 2014-2015 A-SMYLE, Cultural Bridges, ExCEL, FLEX, and YES students to write about the role leadership has played in their exchange year. Hawaiian Students Make Waves in the Capitol

Two of our current students placed in Hawaii, Tijana (A-SMYLE-Serbia) and Muhammad (YES-Pakistan) have been featured on their school's website for their recent participation in a one-day legislative internship with the Hawaiian state government. Along with the rest of their exchange cluster, Tijana and Muhammad had the opportunity to further their roles as cultural ambassadors by shadowing two Hawaiian politicians and learning about the inner workings of the government.

American Councils January Student of the Month!

Recently, the International Student Support Team launched an initiative to choose our own Student of the Month separate from the ones chosen each month by the State Department for students on the A-SMYLE, FLEX, and YES programs. Students from all programs are eligible, but they must be American Councils students currently on program. Our first Student of the Month is Sumbul Ali, YES-Pakistan!
