“First of all, I want my host family to know that I am very excited to meet them and become a part of their family for a year!” Mahmoud is very social and outgoing. He feels energized by spending time playing sports like soccer and basketball with his friends. Another activity that he does with his peers is attending camps where they meet people from all over who come to visit Palestine. He cannot wait to make new friends in the U.S. because he loves interacting with people who are different from him. Mahmoud loves acting, and has participated in several local comedic productions. If he comes across a community service activity, Mahmoud is the first to roll up his sleeves and volunteer. He recently helped with a neighborhood cleanup, and painted an old wall to make it look like new again. In the future, Mahmoud hopes to become an English teacher or a translator. Mahmoud is beyond excited for the chance to participate in YES. He sees it as an opportunity to develop himself, gain more skills that he may use in the future, and have the chance to spread a peaceful message about his culture in his new community in the U.S.
