Our Students

American Councils works exclusively with high school (ages 15-17) scholarship students. Alumni include heads of state, educators, entrepreneurs, and more. They are exemplary citizens of their countries and carry their positive experience of the U.S.—especially their host parent or family—throughout their lives. Learn more about some of our Featured Students below.

Manmeet is always excited to join a sports match, whether it is basketball, cricket, or volleyball. “Among indoor games, I like to play badminton and chess, as it will help me to improve my decision-making skills and strategy.” He frequently enjoys stopping by the swimming pool after class with his best friend. Does your family talk politics at the dinner table? Manmeet participates in parliamentary debate classes, and enjoys discussing current events. Whenever he has a quiet moment to himself, Manmeet likes to read a book by one of his favorite authors – J.K. Rowling, Roald Dahl, and Rick Riordan. Just this past year, he participated in a poetry competition, and was recognized for his participation in community service. Manmeet considers himself to be very family-oriented and social, and is curious to try new things. Thinking ahead to the future, Manmeet hopes to attend a good university, and eventually become an economist or businessman. He is excited to be a youth ambassador from Pakistan during his YES exchange year!
