Ansari is an avid volunteer in his small community in the Philippines. In particular, he shares, “My favorite activity is volunteering at [food drives] because as a Red Cross Youth member, I pledged to alleviate human suffering.” If you come across Ansari and his closest friends, you’ll find that they are always laughing and enjoying each other’s company. “We like joining activities at school together like camping, leadership trainings, fun runs, and more!” His family loves traveling to new places when they have a chance.
Ansari excels at science, technology, and math classes, which makes it no surprise that he hopes to become a computer programmer or engineer in the future. He has a way with words, and frequently contributes stories for his school newspaper. He keeps himself quite busy, but if he has a free, quiet moment, Ansari loves to curl up at home with a good book.
“One personal characteristic of mine that will help me succeed on this exchange program is being flexible. I can adjust myself, and get out of my comfort zone.” Ansari understands that it will be a challenge being away from his family for a year, but also considers himself to be strong and patient – two important qualities in a successful YES student! It is certainly worth noting that his teacher thinks “he is responsible, hardworking, resourceful, can lead, and be a model to others.” An advanced note from Ansari to you, “thank you for accepting me and hosting me!”
