Ali from the West Bank says that he is so excited to meet his “second family” in America whom he says “are going to be my family and friends for a whole year, and even after this year!” Ali can’t wait to share his passions with his host family, especially his love of dancing dabkah, a traditional dance in his region. When he’s not out on the dance floor, Ali likes to go swimming or spend time with his friends. They enjoy exploring their city together or trying new restaurants.
Ali is involved in a variety of clubs at school, from Model United Nations to debate club to environmental club, where he volunteers for environmental campaigns. He’s also a member of student council. He says: “I like making plans for the year’s activities, planning conferences, and meeting with the council members, then implementing our plans during the school year.” Ali can’t wait to start doing some extracurricular activities at his new host school.
When asked about his future, Ali’s path is pretty clear. He notes: “Every person in this world his own passion and his own future aims, and I am a person who has a dream of being a doctor; a dream that will let me help people and save their lives.”
