Our Students

OUR STUDENTS ARE EXCEPTIONAL

American Councils works exclusively with high school (ages 15-17) scholarship students. Alumni include heads of state, educators, entrepreneurs, and more. They are exemplary citizens of their countries and carry their positive experience of the U.S.—especially their host parent or family—throughout their lives. Learn more about some of our Featured Students below.

Always the probem solver, Silviandita (who goes by ‘Dita’) wants to use her passion for math and science to become a university professor one day. “For me, studying and answering math questions, is the best experience ever.” When she’s not busy solving equations, Dita loves to read and get lost in a book--her favorite author is Pablo Neruda. She says, “When I read, it’s like I’m diving deep into the ocean.” Quite the film buff, Dita likes to watch action and horror movies, which have helped her study English and improve her pronunciation.

During her exchange year, Dita says she hopes she can expand her knowledge of culture and language, and she understands that even learning about her new family’s daily routines will be a huge learning experience for her. She is interested in trying tacos and learning how to make American foods like apple pie! She is currently learning how to swim and wants to try other new activities in the U.S. like basketball or learning the guitar.

Dita is excited for to meet her new host family and says she “appreciates your kindness to accept students like me to live at your house and help us catch our dreams.”
