Our Students

American Councils works exclusively with high school (ages 15-17) scholarship students. Alumni include heads of state, educators, entrepreneurs, and more. They are exemplary citizens of their countries and carry their positive experience of the U.S.—especially their host parent or family—throughout their lives. Learn more about some of our Featured Students below.

Nour has a very close relationship with her family and friends and cherishes the time they spend together. She believes that "having a positive attitude, being hospitable, helping and smiling to others are quite important." With her friends, Nour enjoys participating in school clubs, volunteering, going to the movies, and spending time exploring their hometown. In her free time, Nour enjoys reading books, watching movies, and playing sports. She especially likes taking Zumba or aerobics classes and swimming. Does your family like to go hiking? Nour would love to join your family in a hiking or camping excursion in the U.S. as she says that nature delights her and fills her with energy.

During the YES program, Nour hopes to continue taking part in the activities that interest her like hiking, going to the gym, and participating in technology clubs and other organizations like Interact Club. But she also can't wait to experience new things, like trying a new sport. Nour knows that she will discover several amazing new activities with her host family while in the U.S.

Nour wants to share the following to her future host family: "I don't find the words to thank you for your hospitality which is proved by considering to host me. I am looking forward to meeting you and I would definitely be pleased to become a member of your host family."
