Whether she’s playing the violin or teaching herself to play the ukelele, Damaris from Estonia loves music. In addition to playing instruments, Damaris loves to sing and even writes her own songs. She took part in her first singing competiion when she was just 2 years old and has been in countless since then. Damaris is involved in various choirs and orchestras, and would love to perform her music for her new host family!
Damaris has many other creative talents, and uses these skill every day to help improve her school and the experiences of her fellow students as the Student Council President. She has won several art Olympiad contests but acknowledges “Olympiads aren’t all about winning. I see them more as a way to improve myself.” Damaris spends a lot of her time at school organizing events, finding solutions to problems, and generating new ideas. She states “This part of my life gives me the most joy because I love to see how what I do can change students’ time in school for the better.”
Spending time with family and friends is very important to Damaris, and they love to do such activities as attending volleyball and soccer games, going for walks, running, going to the gym, or just watching movies together. She’s really curious to try out new hobbies in the U.S., like photography, acting, or learning how to create digital music. Damaris can’t wait to meet you and start her American exchange year!
