Are you an early bird who enjoys starting your day with an invigorating workout? If you do, then you’ll have a new morning exercise buddy in Azim. This young man, who describes himself as a “funny, tall, sometimes serious 17-year-old,” loves to start each and every day by waking up early and taking in some laps in the pool. Azim lists swimming as his favorite activity because it keeps his body healthy, energizes him for the school day, and allows him to relax and unwind. In addition to a fondness for the water, Azim also likes curling up with a good novel. Some of his favorite authors include Ernest Hemingway, John Green, and Laura Hillerbrand. Azim is especially interested in reading about the history of his country as well as the culture of foreign nations. He believes that “without understanding our past, there cannot be any worthwhile future.” It is this mantra coupled with a passion for helping people that has inspired Azim to pursue a career with the United Nations in the future. “So long as I can make a difference in someone else’s life, as long as I can make someone happy, I have the motivation to get up and work hard every day.”
