Mariya, more commonly known as Masha, considers herself to be independent, curious to try new things, and has a great sense of humor. She is incredibly creative, participates in art school, and finds time to practice embroidery, quilting, and graphic design. Masha thoroughly enjoys going to school every day and fills her schedule with as many projects, competitions, and extracurricular activities as possible. “I get on really well with my classmates with whom I laugh every day!” She is an active member of her school parliament, and chemistry club. She challenges herself by participating in biology, chemistry, and Ukrainian language and literature olympiads. It’s no doubt that Masha will become very involved in her U.S. host school! Along with friends, she enjoys roller skating, ice skating, and playing badminton. As she loves spending time in nature, Masha is preparing an album of her favorite photos of the Ukrainian countryside to show to her host family. Spending holidays with her family is one of her favorite things, and she’s eager to learn how special events are celebrated in the U.S.
