When asked how her friends would describe her, Dalia says “open-minded, funny, spontaneous, sportive, and creative.” She is an optimist by nature and always tries to make the most out of any situation. She credits her parents for this because “both of my parents raised me to be a creative, loving, honest, and responsible person with my own opinions.”
Diana’s main passion is singing, which she has been doing for about ten years ever since her parents realized that she sang at every opportunity. They put her into singing lessons and Diana says, “I just fell in love with music each time I learnt something new. I had shows that I could perform and [taking lessons] was indeed a turning path for me at a young age.”
A naturally inquisitive person, Diana cannot wait to try new activities while in the U.S. She would love to try skiing because it is a winter sport, and it does not snow where she lives. She views her exchange experience as a once in a lifetime opportunity “to meet new people and [get] to know the ‘American way of life.’” Although she may miss her family while she’s abroad, she is confident that “the experiences of one year with you will be more than worth leaving my normal home. I am so excited about the stay and I hope I’ll be able to show you something about the Palestinian way of life. As I love cooking, I could also cook traditional Palestinian meals for you.”
