Each year, American Councils holds an essay contest called "My American Experience." We asked our FLEX, YES, and Cultural Bridges students to reflect on the value of exchange programs for both exchange participants and Americans in their host communities. 2015 International Education Week Highlights

International Education Week took place this year from  November 16-20. We are so proud of our 2015-2016 students, who went above and beyond our requirements! Thanks to your hard work, which included over 400 presentations during the month of November, over 15,700 people in your host communities throughout the U.S. experienced the cultural enrichment of IEW. While Ayesha from Pakistan made the most presentations--20 during the week of IEW--17% of our students made more than 3 presentations.

We are pleased to share the winning essay for our 2015 "My American Experience" Essay Contest! For this contest, we asked our 2014-2015 A-SMYLE, Cultural Bridges, ExCEL, FLEX, and YES students to write about the role leadership has played in their exchange year. International Education Week 2014!

International Education Week is an opportunity for you to share YOUR culture and traditions with Americans. In order to encourage you to be active in IEW and to reward your participation, the Inbound Team has organized the following contests. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges made up of American Councils staff and volunteers in Washington, D.C. Students may enter up to two categories (one submission per category), and we will choose one winner per category. Prizes vary from $25-$50 gift certificates.

This year, the International Student Support Team is holding its first annual “Host an Ambassador” Campaign! Now is your chance to encourage families and individuals across the U.S. to host a bright, young scholarship student (like YOU!) next year. Create a short video (think: TV commercial) or print/artwork that makes the case for becoming a host family with American Councils. Why should people host scholarship students?
