American Councils Students' "Unforgettable Experience"
American Councils students placed in Edwardsville, IL for the 2016-17 school year recently spoke with their local newspaper about their exchange experience. Each year, American Councils holds an essay contest called "My American Experience." We asked our FLEX, YES, and Cultural Bridges students to reflect on the value of exchange programs for both exchange participants and Americans in their host communities. Each year, the YES program holds End-of-Stay events in Washington, DC to prepare students to return to their home countries. This year, the YES program celebrated its 11th year of programming with events that included Senator Lugar, who helped start the Kennedy-Lugar YES program, and Kal Penn, the popular actor and civil servant who has worked closely with President Obama.
