Our Students

We support high school (ages 15-17) scholarship students from more than 50 countries. While in the US, our students are proud to serve as citizen ambassadors for their respective countries. Upon returning home, they continue to carry their positive experiences of the US—especially their host communities—throughout their lives.

Ilya is a very artistic student who also likes to step up and be a leader at his school! Art is important to him because it is “a reflection of my inner world and my emotions.” This passion led him to create and be head of an “art circle” at school, where students create art together. They even held an exhibition of their work, which interested many students! Ilya enjoys having this position because It “helps me develop my abilities and creative initiative.” En plein air painting, which involves painting outdoors, is especially enjoyable for Ilya.

Ilya’s friends are important to him, and they always support each other with their problems. They like to talk about different things and do activities outside together. He really loves creating art with his friends because “we help one another to see the new sides of ordinary things and we exchange our ideas and thoughts.” Ilya is very excited to meet new people in the U.S. and shares, “It’s interesting to me to make new friends.”

While in the U.S., Ilya looks forward to getting more involved in fitness, volunteering, and computer science. He’s interested in math, physics, and computer science, and he hopes to become a computer programmer in the future! He can’t wait to learn about American history and culture and is especially excited to try pancakes with maple syrup!
