Our Students

We support high school (ages 15-17) scholarship students from more than 50 countries. While in the US, our students are proud to serve as citizen ambassadors for their respective countries. Upon returning home, they continue to carry their positive experiences of the US—especially their host communities—throughout their lives.

Hala is a student with diverse interests and a drive for new experiences! She says, “my interests change as often as the wind changes direction.” She loves music and art, but she is modest about her abilities for both. She likes to be inspired and dream about future opportunities. For example, Hala is fascinated by all things related to airplanes. She feels inspired when watching airplanes in the sky. When she sees one, she reminisces about being a passenger up in the clouds and dreams about being able to operate a plane in the future.

Hala loves to spend time with her family. Some of their favorite activities are playing cards, visiting the beach, going on picnics, and watching sporting matches. But she says that “the fact that we are together is more important than the activity.” Hala is also very social, and she appreciates spending time with her wide circle of friends. Together, they volunteer, go to the park, practice photography, bike around the city, or visit local museums and zoos. She says her friends are very funny—when they are together, they always make her laugh!

Hala is excited to learn about American culture and society, try new sports, and make international friendships. She loves being in the outdoors, so she is particularly interested in trying out tennis, camping, rowing, and hiking! Cultural exchange is also important to Hala, who says I want to share my own culture and reflect a good image of my country.”
