About Burak

Burak knows that his exchange year will be transformative, and he is hoping to gain a new perspective and mindset. Living with a host family is an aspect of the program he is greatly looking forward to and hopes to create a close relationship like he has with his parents. Burak enjoys exploring new cities and is excited to visit new and interesting places in his host community. He also hopes to try new things in the US, sharing, “I would like to experience new activities in the USA, like skiing, canoeing, baseball, and playing American football!”

One of Burak’s favorite pastimes is spending time with his friends whom he has known since he was young. They are very active and sporty, as they love playing soccer, and even organize soccer tournaments for the local community! They also like to spend time outdoors and discuss current events and world news. Burak trusts his friends and is thankful that he can go to them for support and advice. When he isn’t spending time with friends, Burak enjoys watching American TV shows (Dexter and The Walking Dead are some his favorites!), reading historical books, playing computer games, or learning new languages.

Curious Burak has strong career ambitions, as he would like to either study medicine to be a surgeon or become a politician. Whichever path he chooses, he hopes to “contribute and change something in my country for the better.” Burak is very intuitive as he finds it fascinating to learn about human emotions and psychology and even took a course on understanding body language and facial expressions! He believes that these skills, coupled with his adaptability and intrigue, will help him succeed in the US!
