Mahmoud
About Mahmoud
Mahmoud grew up in a small village in the north of Israel. His father is a lawyer, his mother a dynamic and positive science teacher, and his older sister a wise genius. “As a child, I was taught to be honest and helpful,” he explains. “I am an adaptable, flexible, and ambitious student who has many dreams and goals in life.” He considers himself a social friend and responsible community member who often volunteers in the hopes of building a better society. “You have to be positive and patient in order to succeed in bringing a change to the world.”
Mahmoud believes that “music is the food of the soul, and it is a great language that everyone can understand.” He plays the violin, a very challenging instrument that builds his confidence, and is also a member of a local band that has performed at concerts and festivals. Academically, science interests him the most, and he hopes to be a university lecturer one day. “It is an amazing job in which you learn something new every day.” In addition to his academic and musical pursuits, Mahmoud enjoys swimming on a swim team. He hopes to continue swimming while on his exchange year and would love to join his host school’s swim team if there is an opportunity.
To his host family, Mahmoud declares, “I will always be proud of meeting you and being part of your sweet family. I believe that living with you for a whole year will affect me positively and will help me grow.” He is very appreciative of the unique opportunity to study and live in a new place. He wants to keep volunteering in his new host community, join the school band or orchestra, and represent his school in swimming. He says, “Thanks for choosing me to be part of your lovely family.”
