About Rafia

Friendly and outgoing Rafia loves communicating with new people as it allows her to build strong connections with others, something she is looking forward to doing in her host community. She spends a lot of time with her sisters, as they are very close, and they often share stories around the dinner table, cook delicious meals, and hang out together on the weekend. Rafia is very social and cherishes the relationships she has with her friends, sharing, “I like connecting with others who share similar interests!”

Rafia has a variety of interests, including watching documentaries, participating in debate tournaments, reading historical books, and “writing short stories to express and share my knowledge with others.” She also enjoys being active and playing sports like basketball and badminton as athletics allow her to relieve stress and spend time with friends. In school, Rafia finds her science and math classes the most interesting as she plans to study Information Technology in the future. She feels lucky and honored to live in a modern city which encourages its youth to study and develop themselves.

Living with a host family is an aspect of the exchange experience that excites Rafia! She hopes to learn about her host family’s traditions and culture, while also sharing her own with others. Rafia knows that this experience will be life changing as she grows both academically and personally, and she hopes to create bonds with people from different parts of the world. She is eager to try new activities, like skiing or joining a sports team, and looks forward to exploring her host community. She writes, “I am looking forward to experiencing life in United States, engaging myself in new cultures, and building new connections!”
