We are thrilled to announce a new program for youth from Kiribati! The program, called UUTI* (meaning “awake” in the Gilbertese language) is funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation and will bring 8 high school students from Kiribati to the US for the 2024-25 academic year.

Students from Kiribati will be selected through a rigorous, merit-based application process and will receive a full scholarship for the program. While in the US, students will live with volunteer host families, attend US high schools, improve their English, and strengthen workforce readiness skills like computer literacy and communication. Find out more about hosting here!

Support positive youth development and cultural exchange as a host family or Local Coordinator!

  • Become a Local Coordinator: I-Kiribati students will be placed in clusters of two to four students, so we need motivated LCs to make this happen! You can apply to become an LC here.

Have questions? Please fill out the short form below, and a member of our team will be in touch.

*Note in the Gilbertese language, the “ti” sounds like an “s,” so the nation is pronounced “Kiribas” and the program, “Oos.”
