Our Students

American Councils works exclusively with high school (ages 15-17) scholarship students. Alumni include heads of state, educators, entrepreneurs, and more. They are exemplary citizens of their countries and carry their positive experience of the U.S.—especially their host parent or family—throughout their lives. Learn more about some of our Featured Students below.

Peri is a very creative and artistic young woman, and in her free time, she loves to experiment with creating and filming different types of movies. Peri especially likes making music videos because “when I listen to music I feel it not only with my mind, but also with my heart.” But her creative streak doesn’t end there! She is also a talented (and award-winning!) poet and author, as well as a budding photographer. Between her films and her photos, you’ll be sure to remember all of your happy memories with Peri! When she isn’t flexing her creative muscles, you can often find Peri on the basketball or volleyball courts. She adores sports “because I like team games and inventing strategies to win.” Despite her busy schedule, Peri always makes time to play with her puppy and take him for walks through her beautiful hometown. To her future host family, Peri says, “I’ll be very glad to live with you in one house, to tell you about Kazakhstan culture, and to show you the rituals and traditions of my people. I look forward to meeting you soon!”
