Our Students

American Councils works exclusively with high school (ages 15-17) scholarship students. Alumni include heads of state, educators, entrepreneurs, and more. They are exemplary citizens of their countries and carry their positive experience of the U.S.—especially their host parent or family—throughout their lives. Learn more about some of our Featured Students below.

Qadrah is very social and is so full of energy, it’s no wonder that she hopes to try cheerleading in her U.S. high school! Whenever she has free time, Qadrah spends it with her friends, sisters, and younger cousins. Her favorite activities are swimming, singing, and dancing. She even received an award for being the best dancer at her school. Does your family spend a lot of time outdoors? Qadrah enjoys going camping and tending to her garden. Qadrah is very proud to be from a country that contains many different cultures, religions, and people who are always there to help each other. She hopes to be an exemplary ambassador of Tanzania during her year in the U.S. She is curious and excited for the opportunity to learn about American culture and meet new people. In the future, Qadrah aspires to become a flight attendant so she can see the world and meet people from across the globe. Qadrah can’t wait to meet you, and says: “My dear American family, I would like you to know that I am a good girl with high expectations for myself and I can’t wait to see America with my own eyes!”
