Our Students

American Councils works exclusively with high school (ages 15-17) scholarship students. Alumni include heads of state, educators, entrepreneurs, and more. They are exemplary citizens of their countries and carry their positive experience of the U.S.—especially their host parent or family—throughout their lives. Learn more about some of our Featured Students below.

Rangga loves being surrounded by good friends, and is excited to make new ones in the U.S. Together they like to play soccer, or practice acting in a local theater club. He was proud to recently win a silver medal in a school theater competition. During his year abroad, Ra ngga hopes to try new sports, such as American football, field hockey, or skiing. Maintaining family relationships is very important to him and he often helps out his father on the farm. One of Rangga’s favorite activities is trading at the local market because it teaches him entrepreneurial skills that he believes he may use in his future career. He participates in debate club, which enables him to strengthen his English skills. Rangga considers himself to be creative, active, and spontaneous. Whenever he has a free moment, he practices martial arts, or reads a motivational book to help keep him feeling inspired. Rangga is eager to teach others about Indonesia during his exchange year. Rangga wants to share that he looks forward to becoming a part of your family and creating new memories together!
