Our Students

We support high school (ages 15-17) scholarship students from more than 50 countries. While in the US, our students are proud to serve as citizen ambassadors for their respective countries. Upon returning home, they continue to carry their positive experiences of the US—especially their host communities—throughout their lives.

Rinad is a sociable, open-minded young woman who tends to stay busy. At home, she handles many responsibilities with her older sister since her mother works late, and at school, she participates in three different academic programs. When she does have free time, she enjoys listening to music, going to the beach and watching movies with her family, and recording her thoughts in her diary. She especially loves being with her friends. She says, “They are a part of my life. I love them a lot.” On the weekends, they often go shopping, play card games, watch horror movies, and volunteer together.

Rinad is very active at school, taking part in different programs and extracurriculars. Rinad is drawn to classes like math, Arabic, and English, and her favorite activity is the schools’ English conversation club. She says, “I love it because we do many fun and adorable things. We debate and discuss really important topics. We do speeches. English let us talk club is the place where I enjoy, learn and am happy the most.” Because of her school activities, Rinad believes she is becoming a more open-minded, ambitious, and curious person. In the future, Rinad wants to study architecture at university.

For her year in the U.S., Rinad is most excited to make new friends and learn more about American culture from them. She would also like to play basketball and learn the piano. Knowing that her country has its share of conflicts, she hopes to use everything she learns while abroad to improve the situation and conditions in Palestine for the better. To her future family, she says, “I think it will be a fabulous experience and I will spend the most beautiful ten months in all my life with you.”
