About Alen

Alen is thoughtful and motivated, and enjoys a balanced life filled with academics, music, friendships, and family time. He shares that living with his family includes “cooking traditional food, watching films, and taking walks,” and these simple routines are very important to him. He has a wide range of interests, especially music and strategy games, explaining that “playing the violin…helps me to think and plan ahead” and allows him to express himself creatively. Alen is also passionate about trying new things and sees this exchange as “not just about learning English…[but] growing as a person.” He appreciates meaningful experiences and values both personal growth and cultural exchange.

Alen is open‑minded, reflective, and eager to learn from others. He describes how meeting someone different from him helped him become “more open…[and] understand each other,” showing his willingness to step outside of his comfort zone. He takes responsibility seriously and has built strong character through both success and challenge, noting, “after I lose I have very disappointed…[but] I understand I can go to this competition next year,” demonstrating resilience and perseverance. Alen also shows compassion through his involvement in volunteering, where he proudly shares that helping others “made me more responsible and communicative,” highlighting his growth as both a leader and caring individual.

Alen will bring positivity, curiosity, and strong family values to his host home. He is excited to share his culture and learn about American traditions, saying he hopes to “cook dishes from my country…[and] learn about your family traditions.” He looks forward to school life in the U.S., participating in activities, and building friendships, while also exploring new interests like baseball and languages. Alen is especially motivated by his future goal, explaining that he plans to study aviation and become a pilot.
