About Oleksandra

As an open and friendly person, Oleksandra loves spending time with others, especially her family. Evenings are often spent together, discussing their day or playing a board game. When she isn’t with her family, Oleksandra can usually be found with her friends whom she has known since childhood. She values their relationship very much writing, “My friends are a very important part of my life; I really value their friendship and try to be a trustworthy friend to them too.”

Oleksandra is a very creative person and some of her favorite hobbies include knitting, baking, and her two favorites, photography and filmmaking. These activities allow her to “capture moments and the surrounding beauty and also help me to develop creatively.” Oleksandra dreams of becoming a movie director, so she can often be found watching films as they bring her inspiration and allow her to better understand how stories are constructed. She hopes to create her own short film one day soon!

While in the US, Oleksandra hopes to try new activities like hiking and attending cultural festivals. She is also interested in joining a new school club, like drama or choir, or trying a new sport, like tennis, golf, or volleyball. Oleksandra knows that this program is an invaluable opportunity for cultural exchange. She is excited to try her host family’s traditional foods and dishes, while also sharing some of her own. She writes, “I would be so happy to learn about your traditions and culture, and I would also love to share mine!”
