About Zoya

Curious Zoya loves learning new things and focusing her time on self-improvement. She considers herself to be very creative, writing “I like to focus on creative activities, like drawing, poster-making, and graphic design.” When she isn’t creating something new, she enjoys playing chess and would love to play with her future host family. Zoya also considers herself to be friendly and outgoing, as she has a close group of friends in her hometown. They enjoy playing new games, exploring their neighborhood, and creating video blogs that they edit themselves.

Zoya has a small but loving family which consists of her mother and grandparents. Growing up, she learned the importance of respect from her mother whom she also considers a close friend. Zoya enjoys spending time with her grandmother, and they often prepare different dishes or watch movies together. Thinking about her future host family, Zoya is excited about the possibility of having an American pet writing, “Having a fluffy friend in the household would be amazing! I love animals and share a special bond with them.”

During her time in the US, Zoya hopes to share information about her country and culture with others as she knows many people may not know a lot about Armenia. She has always dreamed of exploring new cultures, so she is also excited to learn more about the American lifestyle and culture of her host family. Zoya believes that in-person cultural exchange will be a key factor in creating friendships and close bonds with people in her host community. In terms of her future American high school, Zoya wants to try new activities, sharing, “In the US, I would like to try cheerleading and join a drama or writing club!”
