Leen
About Leen
Empathetic and animal-loving Leen is bursting with excitement to experience life in the United States! At her home in the West Bank, Leen is the proud caretaker of her family’s animals, especially their five beloved cats. She loves nothing more than playing with her furry companions, and her family’s history of having pets like dogs, hamsters, and fish has made her an all-around animal enthusiast. When she’s not doting on her kitties, Leen enjoys volunteering, saying it “keeps me humble and gives me a sense of gratitude to give back to the less fortunate.” She’s eager to explore the culture of volunteering in the U.S. and continue her passion for helping others. In her free time, Leen enjoys swimming, participating in debate team activities, playing Roblox with friends, and reading captivating fables!
A natural conversationalist, Leen loves connecting with people and values the close-knit spirit of her vibrant city. “What makes my city extra special is that everyone is welcome, and everyone has each other’s back.” Leen treasures her intimate group of friends, spending time exploring the West Bank’s diverse culinary scene and enjoying video calls to play games like Roblox, trivia, Clue, and Monopoly.
During her YES experience, Leen is excited to “meet new people from various backgrounds, cultures, and traditions” and hopes to build lifelong friendships. She’s looking forward to sharing meals with her host family (anything with pasta and cheese is her favorite!), watching action or comedy movies, visiting museums, celebrating American festivals, and maybe even visiting an amusement park! “I hope you are as excited as I am for this experience, and that with time, we grow to love each other like a second family!”
