About Matei
Matei is a thoughtful and energetic student who balances an active lifestyle with strong academic interests. Growing up near a lively community with plenty of green spaces, he enjoys spending time outdoors cycling or training, but he is just as happy reading fantasy and fiction to relax. He is especially passionate about rugby and robotics, two activities that shape how he spends his free time and how he connects with others. As Matei shares,“Rugby plays an important role in my life because it has taught me discipline, teamwork, and adaptability.”
Matei is calm, resilient, and deeply cooperative. Whether working with teammates on the rugby field or collaborating in robotics, he values trust, communication, and shared goals. He explains that in robotics he enjoys “working on challenging projects while meeting people who share my interests,” and he takes pride in learning how to manage deadlines, solve problems, and contribute meaningfully to a team.
As a host family member, Matei brings warmth, independence, and a genuine desire to be involved in everyday family life. He is used to helping at home and appreciates routines, shared activities, and time spent together. During his exchange year, he hopes not only to improve his English but also to fully experience school and family life, saying he wants “to make new friends” and “understand American culture easier.” Looking ahead, Matei hopes to continue developing his skills in STEM while growing as an athlete, believing that this exchange will help him “grow as a person, make new friends, and build meaningful connections.”
