Toaua

About Toaua

Toaua grew up in a close‑knit household and values time spent with family, school, and community. She describes herself as someone who enjoys learning, helping others, and staying connected to her culture, sharing that she wants to “cook local meals or share Kiribati dances.” Her daily life reflects responsibility and structure: she is used to balancing school, chores, and leadership roles. She approaches new environments thoughtfully and says she is excited to experience new traditions while also proudly sharing where she comes from.

Toaua consistently presents herself as kind, reflective, and resilient. She believes strongly in leadership rooted in fairness and care, writing that “a good leader looks after the wellbeing of those around them, not themselves.” She is not afraid to ask for help when she needs it and explains that she learned perseverance after being unsuccessful in a previous application. Her teachers describe her as respectful, communicative, and confident, with strong teamwork and problem‑solving skills.

Toaua would be a thoughtful and considerate addition to a host family, approaching the experience with humility and gratitude. She states that she will respect household rules and differences, explaining that “people are different, and I am a guest.” She is eager to gain stronger English and computer skills, experience American school life, and share what she learns with her community. Looking ahead, she hopes to become an English teacher and says she wants to “make my parents proud” by using this opportunity to grow academically and personally.
