About Mariata
Mariata is a thoughtful and self‑aware student who values close relationships, faith, and personal growth. She enjoys spending time with friends at church and describes her home life as one where communication and mutual respect are important. She shares that if something is uncomfortable, “I will talk about it,” showing openness and maturity. Mariata also enjoys practical and creative activities like cooking (especially baking chocolate cake) reading, singing, dancing, and storytelling.
Mariata’s character stands out in her calmness, resilience, and strong sense of responsibility. She has experience living away from home at boarding school and has already developed healthy coping strategies for homesickness. During group activities, she confidently spoke for her group and showed leadership, while also remaining respectful and cooperative.
In a host family, Mariata brings gratitude, adaptability, and clear communication. In the U.S., she hopes to try new activities like track and volleyball and strengthen her English skills. She wants to work on climate change in the Pacific region, explaining that participating in this program will help her build the skills she needs to represent her community and future goals.
