About Zarema
Kind and caring Zarema loves spending time with her parents and participating in family traditions. She is grateful to have grown up in a family that is very close and she shows her appreciation through helping with household chores like watering the plants and doing laundry. Having a warm and welcoming environment is important to Zarema and she believes “that helping at home shows responsibility and care for the people you love.” Zarema plans to integrate into her host family through joining family activities and helping with chores.
Zarema likes to stay active and she has many interests, with her favorite being volunteering at a local youth organization. While there, she helps to plan different activities. She also enjoys communicating with her peers through debates, Model United Nations, and public speaking events. When she isn’t partaking in these more academic-focused activities, Zarema loves watching movies and taking photos with her friends. Friendships are a highlight for Zarema, and she feels lucky to have such a close group of friends, sharing that she “always feels understood, supported, and completely myself” when with them.
During her exchange year, Zarema is excited to fully immerse herself in her host family and host community though trying new activities, like cheerleading, and attending local events. She also plans to “volunteer in my host community to learn more about American life and make new friends.” Zarema hopes to teach her host family about her home country through cooking traditional foods, teaching them her native language, and sharing information about her holidays and traditions.
