About Shakhriza

Family time is very important to Shakhriza, and she often spends her weekend with her siblings and parents. They enjoy playing sports, travelling, having picnics, and staying active with outdoor activities. Shakhriza also adores her dog, Simba, who she notes, “is a part of our family as we adore animals!” Taking care of Simba is one of Shakhriza’s household responsibilities, a task that has taught her to be more independent and accountable.

Shakhriza has many interests and hobbies, with some of her favorites being language-learning, badminton, and volleyball. She notes that playing volleyball “helps me make new friends and build strong relationships with my teammates.” Shakhriza also enjoys exploring her creative side through drawing and video editing, and more recently, styling hair and taking lessons from a local makeup artist. Being social is also very important to Shakhriza, as she enjoys meeting new people and spending time with others. She has a wide circle of friends and a particularly strong relationship with her two best friends from school. Shakhriza is excited to create similar friendships with her new classmates in the US!

During her time in the US, Shakhriza is excited to join school clubs and take part in different extracurricular activities. One of Shakhriza’s program goals is to create a close relationship with her host family, so she is most excited to spend time with them and create unforgettable memories together. She hopes her host family will also enjoy learning about her own culture and traditions, which she is excited to share. As she looks to the year ahead, she shares, “I hope to build strong relationships with my host family and new friends. I am excited to learn about the US and it’s traditions, culture, and cuisine!”
