About Zhumakhan
Animal loving Zhumakhan would welcome a host family pet as he believes that animals make a home feel alive. At home, he cares for his cat, sharing, “My favorite chore is feeding my cutie cat Kesha who always follows me around and makes chores more fun.” When he isn’t with his family, Zhumakhan loves spending time with his friends as they can make an ordinary day feel like an adventure. Some of their favorite activities include going for bike rides, exploring their hometown, and playing volleyball.
While Zhumakhan has many interests, his two favorites include photography and volunteering. Zhumakhan is enthralled with photography as it is a way to capture different emotions in their purest forms. “Each photo tells a small story about human nature,” he writes. With volunteering, Zhumakhan teaches English to young students as he understands that learning a new language can open the world of opportunity. In school, some of Zhumakhan’s favorite subjects include biology and psychology, and he even participates in his national science Olympiads.
During his exchange year, Zhumakhan hopes to join clubs and create art projects at his host high school. He is looking forward to living with a host family as he understands that this is how he will learn about the real America – “how you celebrate holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving, how your family spends the weekend, and what makes your community special!” Zhumakhan also hopes that his host family is excited to learn about his home country, as he plans to prepare his traditional foods and teach them his national dance.
